Iain’s marathon effort

Iain Critchlow, formerly of property firm, Bromwich Hardy completed the London Marathon in a respectable four hours 28 minutes and in the process raised over £4,000 for the Get A-Head Charitable Trust.

Iain said: “I am a bit disappointed with my time as I had hoped to do less than four hours, but given the lack of long runs in training, because of my Achilles injury, I guess I should be happy. It was a fantastic experience even though it absolutely ruined me. The Achilles just about held up, but the lack of training miles in the bank bit me at 18 miles and the last eight were a bit of a struggle.”

Iain had joined forces with the directors of locally based property companies, Bromwich Hardy, EHB Residential and Heritage Property to run the marathon to raise funds for the trust.

Brothers Tom and Edward Bromwich, and Richard Hill clubbed together, at the charity’s annual ball last November, to raise £3,000 with a winning bid on the charity’s auction for an entry in this year’s London Marathon.

Get-A-Head is an independent charity dealing with head and neck disease, particularly cancer, based at Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham.

Tom Bromwich, who is currently acting as chairman for the trust said: “I’d like to say a special thanks to Iain for doing such a great job for us. It was a tremendous effort and he has raised a lot of money in the process. We are little short of our target but it’s not too late if anyone would still like to donate as they can visit Iain’s just giving page below.”
