Ian looking forward to new homes role

Connells New Homes have appointed Ian Hunt as Area New Homes Partner for Warwickshire and Milton Keynes, effective immediately.

Ian has worked for Connells for over 20 years and joined the company as a negotiator. He has since carried out a host of different roles within the company and brings his vast estate agency experience to the Central region’s Connells New Homes team led by Jessica Hardwick.

“I am excited to take on the Area New Homes Partner role,” says Ian. “There is a large emphasis on the need for more new homes in the UK at the moment. To have a helping hand in ensuring new homes are built in areas that need more homes is a wonderful opportunity.”

Warwickshire in particular is the area Ian is hoping Connells New Homes can develop further partnerships with local builders and developers over the coming months: “A big focus at the moment is meeting with developers in Warwickshire,” continues Ian. “We’ve had great success with new homes sites in the county before and we are looking forward to building great relationships with a variety of house builders again.”

After Chancellor George Osborne announced it is time to “Get Britiain Building” again, many have called for new homes to be built quickly to help with housing supply issues that are rife throughout the UK. Indeed, Ian agrees that more homes need to be built in areas such as Warwickshire and Milton Keynes but believes building quickly and in bulk is not necessarily the right answer.

“New homes sites are a vital part of helping supply meet demand,” he says. “The Oakgrove site we are helping to sell in Milton Keynes is a perfect example of this. It is a desirable part of the city to live in and people want homes there. However it is imperative we build houses in places that need them most and also in locations that will sell. This is a big part of my role with Connells and it’s an exciting time to be part of the team.”
