New restaurant is named after Sir Frank Whittle

Binswood Hall, the home of the new luxury Audley Retirement Village in Leamington will soon open its doors to the local community.

Ahead of the opening, Audley has announced that the new fine dining restaurant at the village will be called Whittle’s, in honour of Sir Frank Whittle, a pupil from the building’s days as a school.

Grade II listed Binswood Hall was a beacon of education in the local area, home to Leamington College for Boys amongst others, and was the alma mater of a number of distinguished alumni.

Primary amongst these was the inventor of the jet engine and a pioneer in modern day transport, Sir Frank Whittle, who attended the school from 1918 to 1923.

Nick Sanderson, CEO of Audley Retirement, said: “Frank Whittle made an indelible mark on 20th century history and changed the way we live and travel. We are proud to honour his legacy and acknowledge a local idol and are confident that diners at Whittle’s will enjoy the locally sourced food and warm atmosphere.”

Whittle’s restaurant will be housed in the sympathetically restored Victorian Gothic hall which will be home to the Audley Club. The restaurant kitchen will be overseen by new head chef, Luciano Catalinotto. Luciano has more than 20 years’ experience, with groups such as Q Hotels and Principle Hayley, and has achieved many rosettes in his career. He will use locally sourced ingredients and suppliers to create exceptional dishes for visitors.

Alongside the restaurant, the Audley Club, will provide an elegant lounge bar, library, swimming pool and health and wellbeing centre.
