Church Street

Someone’s written 1971 on the back of this picture of Church Street in our files, which looks about right.

I guess it might have been taken to show the installation of the railings outside Lloyds Bank.

I’m not sure how clearly it will print, but the shop signs I can read on the original are the Coventry Evening Telegraph, Baxters (butchers), PB Books, Wright Ladies Fashion on the corner, Civic (which looks like a small supermarket), Jackson and The Coffee Bean, which I can remember being there when I was a child and think it sold lovely jam doughnuts!
