AWARD-WINNING musical Blood Brothers is now on stage at the Belgrade - starring X Factor’s Niki Evans
The show will play on the Coventry theatre’s main stage in until Saturday, April 2, with Niki Evans as Mrs Johnstone.
Blood Brothers has triumphed across the globe, winning four awards for best musical in London and seven Tony Award nominations on Broadway.
The tale of Liverpool life has been running in London’s West End since July 1988 and touring the UK since 1995.
Written by Willy Russell, Blood Brothers tells the captivating and moving tale of twins who, separated at birth, grow up on opposite sides of the tracks, only to meet again with tragic consequences.
Songs include A Bright New Day, Marilyn Monroe and the emotionally charged hit Tell Me It’s Not True.
Niki Evans rose to fame following the 2007 series of The X Factor, in which she reached the semi finals.
The cast also includes three local actors, with Craig Price from Nuneaton playing the role of the narrator.
Meanwhile Abby Simpson and Joanne Dalladay, both from Coventry, play the roles of Brenda and Donna Marie/Miss Jones respectively.
Willy Russell is one of this country’s leading contemporary dramatists, with credits include Educating Rita and Shirley Valentine.
Educating Rita, originally commissioned by the Royal Shakespeare Company, enjoyed a two-year run in the West End and was made into a film starring Michael Caine and Julie Walters.
Shirley Valentine also made the move from stage to screen in an enormously popular film starring Pauline Collins and Tom Conti.
