Relatives of a Rugby teenager who died of leukaemia have raised £50,000 in his memory.

The 20th annual Ben Jones Memorial Fund Charity Evening took place on Friday night last week at the Workers Club in Oliver Street.

Ben’s family and friends gathered to remember him and raise money for the children’s leukaemia ward at University Hospital.

Ben died 20 years ago, aged just 16.

After his death, Ben’s parents Harold and Pat set up the charity fund to treats and trips to children with leukaemia on the hospital ward.

Mrs Jones said: “This is milestone year for us after 20 years. So many people have supported us over the 20 years. Some have been coming to the event every year for 20 years and businesses in Rugby have also supported us. We want to say thank you to everyone.”

A total of £3,313 was raised on Friday night and over the 20 years, more than £50,000 has been raised for the children.
