Henry Hinde Junior School will become an academy next spring.

The move gives the school more say over what it teaches and how its money is spent.

Headteacher Alisdair Black said: “This will benefit all of our pupils and give them further opportunities to achieve well academically and socially.”

He added the school has made rapid recent improvements and the new status will secure the long-term sustainability of the school, which has selected the National Education Trust to work alongside it.
