Another boost for Warwick economy brings 100 new jobs

Warwick’s economy has received another boost this week with the major expansion of a business, creating 100 new jobs.

Recruitment, automotive design and engineering firm Contechs, based on Budbrooke Industrial Estate, is to double the size of its operation in the town to accommodate increased demand for its services.

The company has sites not only in Warwick but Basildon and Cologne in Germany and currently employs a total workforce of more than 800.

This follows recent signs that investment is picking up in the town, with global engineering services firm TaTa Technologies recently announcing its plans to develop a new European headquarters at Tachbrook Park, creating 200 new jobs.

Contechs managing director Peter Jarvis said turnover last year was £36 million and projected to reach £50 million by the end of next year.

He added: “This expansion comes on the back of unprecedented growth last year.

“We will expand the site at Budbrooke from 25,000 square feet to 55,000 square feet to accommodate increased demand for our services, particularly within the design and engineering, specialist recruitment and trimming sector.”

The new jobs will largely be in trimming, the studio and specialist computer aided design.

Warwick and Leamington MP Chris White has been invited to visit Contechs’ offices next week to learn more about the company which recruits specialists for leading car companies like Ford and Jaguar Land Rover.

Mr White said: “This is another success story for our region and comes on top of investment from Tata, new video games firms moving to our area, not to mention long-established firms and the millionth range cooker rolling off the production lines at Rangemaster.”
