A care home in Rugby will host a Dementia Friend’s session to encourage visitors to learn more about the condition and help raise awareness.
The informal and interactive session will be run by Anya Court’s Dementia Champion, Karen Handley, who is also the Customer Relationship Manager at the Dunchurch Road home.
The short session will explore what it’s like to live with dementia, how you can make someone who lives with dementia live a fulfilled life and the small things you can do to make a difference.
Visitors who complete the course will receive a dementia friends badge and takeaway material from the Alzheimer’s Society.
The event will be held on Saturday, November 14 from 2pm to 3pm.
Karen Handley said: “The drop in session will tell you everything you need to know about dementia.
“One in three of us will live with dementia in their life, therefore it’s important that as a care provider we get the word out there and as a community we become more dementia friendly.”
