Beauty spa staff didn’t let vandals ruin their tenth anniversary after their buildings were covered in blue paint the night before the celebrations.
Colleagues, friends, neighbours and strangers all rallied to help clean up Aphrodite Beauty and Spa’s two premises, in Main Street, Newbold, in time for its special event last Saturday.
Owner Caroline Nicolaou had arranged an open celebration day which included free treatments, food, drink, a Frozen princess party and special offers.
But when she arrived at the spas early on Saturday morning she found they had been smeared in blue paint. Vandals had also sprayed paint through the letter box to cause damage to the inside of the properties.
But various people came to help Caroline clean up after seeing the mess outside – and ensure the celebrations could go ahead.
“I was so overwhelmed with the support and kindness shown by everyone and I can’t thank them enough,” Caroline said.

“Both our premises were targeted and I don’t know who did it or why.
“The blue gloss covered all the products, towels, the computer, the reception desk and the floor. They tried to ruin everything but it didn’t stop us. Everyone pulled together and we enjoyed our party. I’d like to say thank you to Gary Farrell who spent four hours cleaning the shop front and I didn’t even know him - his wife sent him down to help us.”
Speaking of the salon’s success over the past ten years, Caroline said: “I believe we have survived so long because we always try to keep up with current trends, treatments and even decor – our salon has had more makeovers than me!
“Our girls are trained in the latest treatments and we aim to keep a high standard. We run weekly offers and Facebook offers, which give something for everyone from OAPs to princess treatments.”
