Armed robbers struck at a Rugby shop last night (Sunday).

The robbery at Premier Stores in Park Road took place around 11.30pm last night.

Three men wearing gloves and dark clothing approached the store on foot from the general direction of Rugby town centre and entered the shop. They threatened the shop worker with what is believed to be a pistol or imitation pistol and used a hand or arm to restrain him around his neck.

A small amount of cash was stolen from the till along with a small quantity of cigarettes before the men ran off along Park Road towards Rugby town centre.

The shop keeper was treated by ambulance paramedics at the scene and suffered minor reddening around the neck but no other visible injury. He also suffered shock.

Immediately following the incident police officers including police dog team searched the area.
