Attempted robbery during the middle of the night as woman is stopped in her car and attacked

A WOMAN driving towards Wolvey during the early hours of the morning was forced to stop when a man jumped out into the road in front of her car while his accomplice tried to rob her.

The terrifying incident happened when the woman was driving along the road between Bulkington and Wolvey at around 3.45am on Thursday last week (March 24.

She got out her car to see if the man was ok and was grabbed from behind by a second person and was punched in the stomach. The two attackers then demanded money from her but were disturbed when another car drove past.

They ran into the bushes at the side of the road and the woman managed to get back into her car and drive off.

Both men were white. One is described as being approximately 6ft tall and of slim build, aged in his 20s. He was of scruffy appearance with long dark hair and large ears, facial stubble and was wearing a dark hooded top, with the hood down, and jeans.

The second man who approached her from behind is described as being approximately 5ft 8 inches tall and of a tubby build. He had short cropped hair and was wearing a denim jacket and jeans.

Detectives in Rugby are now trying to find the driver of the white or light coloured car which was not involved in the incident but drove past when it happened. Officers think the driver of this car may have valuable information which could help them with their enquiry.

The incident took place near to the Gamecock Barracks at Bramcote on the B4114.
