Be a part of history at Wellesbourne restoration site

TOUR guides, cafe and ticket office assistants, education officers and parking stewards are being taken on at the Wellesbourne 19th century restoration site, Chedham’s Yard, which is due to open this spring.

The posts at the blacksmiths’ and wheelwrights’ site will be voluntary but will pose opportunities to develop skills and see the workings of the redevelopment, on which the Friends of Chedham’s Yard have been working hard for many years.

The site will also need gardeners and shop assistants. Anyone interested can attend volunteer open events at the Methodist Church in Bridge Street, Wellesbourne, on Saturday (January 21) from noon to 3pm or on Monday from 7pm to 9pm.

Chedham’s Yard came to national attention when it won £1 million from the BBC Restoration Village competition in 2006. It is also jointly funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund.

Volunteers have spent much of their spare time collecting and cleaning artefacts and planning the layout of the site. To find out more, go online.
