Money will be raised for National Garden Scheme charities, including Macmillan Cancer Support, Marie Curie, Hospice UK and others.

She said: “The gardens are all different and everyone will find something to their gardening taste.

“They will be open from 1.30pm to 5.30pm and a shuttle bus will be running between gardens.

“There will, of course, be tea and cakes and lots of plants for sale to complete the afternoon.”

Long Buckby’s award winning museum will also be open.

The gardens vary in size and style. They range from courtyard and canal side to cottage garden. Some are established and others evolving.

They include water features, pergolas, garden structures, chickens and pigs; but the stars are definitely the plants.

Bursting with colour, visitors will find old favourites and the unusual, used in a variety of ways; trees, shrubs, perennials, climbers, annuals, fruit and vegetables.

The garden map will also show places of historic interest that the visitor will pass on their way round.

Combined admission with Mill House is £5 or free for children.
