This major new tourist attraction will open in the first floor of the library, art gallery and museum building and will be marked by the addition of 12 new names to the Hall of Fame.

They include some big names from the past who are no longer with us but also some of the greats of the modern game, many of whom are expected to be present.

The official event is not open to the public but if you’re around town during the day you could well see World Rugby Chairman Bill Beaumont and some very familiar names off the list heading towards the library.

The new names being added today, including their number in the Hall of Fame are: Brian O’Driscoll (121, Ireland), Shane Williams (122, Wales), Jeremy Guscott (123, England), Lawrence Dallaglio (124, England), Heather Moyes (125, Canada), John Dawes (126, Wales), GPS Macpherson (127, Scotland), Arthur Gould (128, Wales), Jonny Wilkinson (129, England), Daniel Carroll (130, Australia and USA), Daisuke Ohata (131, Japan) and Maggie Alphonsi (132, England).

Following the formal opening today, the Hall of Fame opens to the public tomorrow, Friday and is free.

As well as highlighting the members of the Hall of Fame, there is also a detailed history from its beginnings in Rugby through to its status as a major world sport, with plenty of interactive features.
