A NEW hair and beauty salon in Rugby is proving to be a big hit with customers who are
watching their pennies but want to be pampered.

Dorothy Myrie, who is pictured with daughter Latisha Myrie-Haymes, director of Onyx La’Rouge, wants her treatments to be available to everyone.

She felt inspired to open the business, in Railway Terrace, after a £400 win at the bingo.

Dorothy had always wanted to run her own salon and has taken on the venture as her second job.

“In these difficult times people do not have a lot of disposable income and I wanted to ensure by keeping my prices down that people could still afford to be pampered and enjoy a little luxury on a regular basis without having to worry,” said Dorothy.

Partner Jamie Haymes said the salon has a community feel and is gaining a good reputation.

“It is spread over two floors and has been refurbished from scratch,” he said.

Services include hairdressing, nails, eyelash and hair extensions, colour contact lenses, handbags and jewellery.

Onyx La’Rouge, which opened in June and has an African-Caribbean theme, is also available for children’s parties. Call (01788) 547332.
