Councillor Izzi Seccombe has today (Friday) been elected as Conservative group leader at Warwickshire County Council.
The deputy leader of the group has been named as Cllr Alan Cockburn.
Cllr Seccombe has been a county councillor since 2001 holding the cabinet roles for children young people and families and most recently adult social care.
Cllr Cockburn has been a county councillor since 2001 holding cabinet responsibility for finance, highways and economic development. He is a board member of the Coventry and Warwickshire LEP.
Discussions are currently taking place with other parties to establish the administration of the county council, this will be decided and announced at the meeting of the full Council at Shire Hall on May 21.
Cllr Seccombe said: “To lead my group is a great honour and I am proud to have their support, we have some considerable challenges ahead but many opportunities to look at how we best serve the people of Warwickshire.
Cllr Cockburn said: “We are here to represent all the people of Warwickshire. Like Councillor Seccombe, I am extremely proud to have a role to play in the challenges ahead.”
