Business owner’s anger after immigration raid at busiest time

Nicky Sanghera, who owns Nick’s Hair and Beauty Salon in High Street, said the officers came to the premises in force and locked the front door behind them last Friday lunchtime.

She said they asked her if they could run checks on her staff.

Mrs Sanghera, said: “It was our most busiest time of the day and it was done in front of all the customers.

“I had no problem with them doing the checks but I told them we aren’t going anywhere and that they are not going to do anything until we’ve got through the queue.

“I’ll be writing a letter and seeing my solicitor and if they turn up again I won’t let them do any checks - it does not make a good impression on the business.”

Mrs Sanghera, who also owns another salon in Leamington and one in Kenilworth said the premises had been visited by officers five years ago and that no further action was taken then either.

A Home Office Spokesperson said:“An immigration enforcement operation took place on Friday afternoon at a business in High Street, Leamington. “

“Officers questioned workers to check if they had the right to be and work in the UK.

“No further action was taken.

“All our enforcement visits are intelligence-led.”
