HOUSE of Fraser considered opening a store in Rugby last year, the company said this week.

The upmarket chain of department stores looked into opening a branch in the town - but has now ruled out the possibility in the short term.

A spokesman said: list spokesperson said: “House of Fraser is constantly looking at new locations and potential developments for its business.

“Last year we researched markets for smaller format stores and Rugby was considered as an option. However due to the fact we have several stores in surrounding towns and cities, such as Northampton, Leamington Spa, Solihull and Birmingham, at present we have no immediate plans to open a store in Rugby.”
