Rugby’s Caldecott Park has won a Green Flag Award for a sixth year in a row.

And to celebrate, fitness fanatics will flock to the park today (Monday) to take part in a giant Zumba class.

Instructors from Rugby’s LA Fitness and Virgin Active will lead the Latin-inspired dance class at 1pm.

Visitors to the park can also have free health checks and watch fitness demonstrations from 12 noon to 2pm.

The celebration coincides with national Love Parks Week, which highlights the important role parks and open spaces play in keeping communities healthy and happy.

The Green Flag Awards aim to raise standards in parks and open spaces across the country, and promote well-maintained and well-managed parks with excellent facilities.

Cllr Dr Mark Williams, Rugby Borough Council’s portfolio holder for sustainable environment, said he was delighted Caldecott Park had retained the prestigious award for a sixth year.

“Caldecott Park has always been a special place for Rugby residents,” Cllr Williams added. “The Green Flag Awards obviously feel it’s a special place, too.

“To win the award for a sixth year in a row is a real testament to our staff, volunteers and residents, who all help make Caldecott Park a place Rugby can be proud of.”
