Car destroyed by fire in road near Southam

A CAR was burnt to its shell after catching fire in a road in Napton on Saturday morning.

Firefighters rushed to the scene in Daventry Road shortly after 6am, where they found the car engulfed in flames. It took them around half an hour to extinguish the fire.

A Napton resident who drove past the scene at around 8.30am said: “It looks like the car hit the kerb on the cross roads before careering over the road into the hedge.

“I saw the burnt-out shell being loaded onto a lorry and a huge burnt-out hole in the hedge opposite the Kings Head pub.”

There are reports as yet of any injuries that may have occurred in the incident.
