The incident occurred just after 11:30pm on Thursday February 18. A woman entered the store with a group of friends and while they were being served she is thought to have left the restaurant with the hamper.

The hamper was on sale in the restaurant to raise money for the Ronald McDonald House Charities, which provide free accommodation for families visiting their children in hospital.

PC Darren Williams, investigating, said: “This may seem like a petty incident however this theft has deprived the Ronald McDonald House Charities of money.

“This money goes toward helping families be together at an extremely distressing time.”

Anyone who recognises the woman should call police on 101, quoting incident number 111 of Wednesday February 24.

Alternatively, call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
