Celebrations for award winning nurses in south Warwickshire

“FANTASTIC” nurses in Warwick and Leamington who make a real difference to patients have been recognised in an annual awards ceremony.

South Warwickshire NHS Foundation Trust, which runs Warwick Hospital, recently held the Woods Awards, which give staff the opportunity to vote for their nursing colleagues who they believe have made a positive difference to a patient’s experience or introduced procedures that benefit the trust.

In joint first place were Tamara Harries, ward manager on the Guy Ward at Warwick Hospital, and Maggie Murray, community matron for the ‘virtual ward’ - which provides community care outside of the hospital - in Leamington and Warwick.

The Woods Nursing Team of the Year award was presented to Parkinsons disease Nurses Anna Blog and Anita Hallett, while runners up in this category were the Leamington and Warwick virtual ward team and the Guy Ward nursing team at Warwick Hospital.

Trust chief executive Glen Burley said: “The number and quality of nominations received for the Woods Awards this year was overwhelming. Reading the comments reaffirmed what I already knew about the dedication and hard work of our nursing staff. The trust has some fantastic nurses, who are dedicated to making a difference to our patients day in day out.”
