A touch rugby tournament raised an impressive £70,000 for the Railway Children charity last Thursday, June 2.

The Rail Rugby event was organised by Network Rail and Railway Children and sponsored by VolkerRail.

It saw 14 teams from organisations within the rail industry, including many who live in the town, gather at Rugby School from 10.30am to 4.30pm - with Morson International emerging as the winning team.

Former rugby union player and Dancing on Ice champion, Kyran Bracken MBE, also made an appearance as the guest speaker at a post-event dinner.

The meal was served to guests in the school’s Temple Speech Room and an auction was held to raise further funds for the charity.

Railway Children offer help to young people living on the streets and the money raised will support their work in India, Africa and the UK.
