Chevy rock again for charity

LEAMINGTON rock band Chevy raised more than £2,500 for Macmillan Cancer Support with a charity gig.

The one-off reunion gig was held at the Royal Spa Centre, where the group used to play when they started out.

The group split up in 1982 and since then have enjoyed a cult following around the world and their CDs are still selling.

They were well known on the local music scene and played at the General Wolfe in Coventry, a pub at which many famous names cut their performing teeth.

The idea for the reunion gig came about because fans kept asking them when they were going to get back together, said bassist Bob Poole.

But as yet there is no talk of a long-term reunion, although Bob said he was not ruling out more gigs in the future.
