A PROJECT that helps young actors, singers and dancers from across Rugby realise their potential has been awarded £500 from the Heart of England Co-operative Society.
The Rugby Theatre Summer Youth project has given hundreds of youngsters the chance to fulfil their ambitions over the past 16 years.
Every year the theatre holds open auditions for children and young people aged ten to 21. Up to 100 are selected for on-stage or behind-the-scenes roles. They then take the stage for a five-night run.
This year’s show was 42nd Street. Auditions were held in March. Rehearsals started on August 11 and the show opened on August 22.
Project director Phil Kettle said: “Overall, enjoyment is key.
“We are grateful to the Heart of England Co-operative Society for their part in helping us bring another project to fruition.”
