Kind-hearted employees organised a fundraising day in honour of a colleague who suffered serious injuries after being knocked off his bike on the way to work.

Pertemps employee Vitor Bastos was involved in a serious road collision prior to Christmas when he was knocked off his bike in Hillmorton, Rugby, whilst travelling to work.

Vitor has since had to undergo crucial surgery that has left him unable to work.

However, his colleagues at Pertemps’ on-site team at DHL Sainsbury’s in Crick remain firmly behind Vitor and held a special day in his honour.

A day of fundraising took place yesterday (Wednesday) when staff from across the site came together to raise money for the much-loved colleague.

Contract manager at Pertemps, Michelle Millican, said it was important that Vitor knew his colleagues were thinking about him.

“Everybody was shocked when we heard news of what had happened and all of our thoughts have been with Vitor and his family ever since,” she said.

“We wanted to show Vitor that we continue to wish him well on his recovery by hosting a fundraising day in his honour.”

Michelle added: “We hope it will make a difference and ensure he knows we are thinking about him.”

A wide range of activities took place on the day including cake sales, raffles and games with prizes donated by Pertemps, DHL and Sainsbury’s among other businesses from the surrounding areas.

Colleagues also donated raffle prizes to help raise as much money as possible.
