Companies kickoff for Macmillan Support

Building and Plumbing Supplies Ltd and Travis Perkins have launched a charity challenge to recruit hundreds of residents to support them at their company football match

Macmillan Cancer Support will receive donations from the event taking place on 8 May at Leamington FC’s New Windmill Ground on Harbury Lane.

Kickoff is at 7.30pm.

Paul Young from Building and Plumbing Supplies Ltd is hoping scores of people will come along to raise cash to fund vital cancer services.

Paul, from Leamington, said: “I lost my mother-in-law a year ago and the Macmillan support was such a comfort.

“We’ve all been touched by cancer and charities like Macmillan can offer support in a time of need.”

Fundraising manager for Warwickshire, Bernadette Halton said: “We want to make sure no one has to face cancer alone but we can’t do it without the amazing people who fundraise for us. Coming along to this match is a fantastic way to support Macmillan.”

All the money raised from the event will be used to fund Macmillan’s vital cancer services, from specialist nurses and doctors, to help and advice for people who have financial problems as a result of their cancer.
