Council will collect your Christmas trees again

Real Christmas trees can be cut in half and placed next to green bins for collection or taken to Barn Close Nurseries in Shrewley, Hintons Nursery in Warwick or Smith’s Nurseries in Baginton any time throughout January.

For households without the green bin scheme, real Christmas trees can still be recycled by putting them out with rubbish sacks on collection day or left in the bin store area within flats.

The Council has asked that all decorations, tree stands, pots and netting are removed as these can not be recycled.

Councillor David Shilton, Portfolio Holder for Neighbourhood Services said, “A lot of real Christmas trees are thrown away in the New Year and sent to landfill. Please don’t let your real Christmas tree go to waste. Recycle it so that it can be turned into something useful again.”

Twelfth Night, on Sunday, is traditionally the day to take down Christmas trees and decorations so as not to bring bad luck upon the home.
