A Bilton woman has come up with a number of crafty ways to recycle everyday products, making plastic fantastic and magical models from paper.

Susan Drage uses items including beer cans, plastic bottles and newspaper.

She is now encouraging individuals and women’s groups to make sleeping bags out of plastic bags in time for homeless people to use next winter.

“I’ve been doing this for years and years,” said Susan, of Collingwood Avenue.

“I make bags out of bottles, candle holders out of beer cans, jewellery, all sorts. I’m always coming up with new ideas and my husband thinks I’m wonderful. We work very well together.”

Susan suffers from fibromyalgia, which means pain in the fibrous tissues in the body. She also has thumb osteoarthritis.

“It’s a good distraction from the pain and it keeps it supple,” she explained.

Susan’s dream is to open a shop in Rugby, selling crafts made by her and other people.

She said: “I’m passionate about what I do.”
