BREAKING NEWS: Evacuation after '˜suspect package' found at scrap yard in Rugby

A suspect package has been found at a scrap yard on Newbold Road in Rugby.

A spokesman for Warwickshire Police said: “A 200 metre cordon is in currently place around Newbold Road in Rugby, after a suspicious package was uncovered around 10am this morning.

“The package was uncovered on a scrapyard and explosive experts are currently at the scene as a precautionary measure.

“Some business premises have been evacuated, however no residential properties have been affected. There is not thought to be any wider threat to the local community.”

It is believed that around 45 people were evacuated from the area.
