Dogs kill three lambs in savage attack near Lutterworth - before dying themselves of unexplained cause

At least three sheep and lambs have been killed by two Alsatian dogs – which then also died - in a savage countryside attack near Lutterworth on Easter Monday.

The shocking incident happened on Lutterworth Road, Ullesthorpe, just before 9am yesterday morning, said Leicestershire Police.

Officers were called at 8.57am after being alerted that sheep and lambs were being “attacked” by two Alsatians, which were both microchipped, in a field.

“At least three sheep were reported to have been killed in the incident.

“One of the dogs was also reported to have died at the scene,” said a police spokeswoman.

“The second dog was initially reported to have left the scene but was later reported to have also died at the scene.

“The dogs had chips and were taken to the vets and enquiries are continuing to locate the dogs’ owner.

“Enquiries remain ongoing into the incident.”

Asked if they could say how the two dogs died, the police spokeswoman replied: “Not at this stage – enquiries remain ongoing into the incident.”
