Driver of stolen car did more than three times the speed limit and smashed into other cars during Brownsover chase

The driver of a stolen Citroen C2 did more than three times the speed limit during a ten-minute chase through Brownsover.

Yesterday, February 11, a spokesperson for Rugby Police took to Facebook to explain the incident.

They explained that Rugby police officers were on patrol in Brownsover when they spotted a blue Citroen C2 which they suspected to be stolen.

The driver of the Citroen failed to stop - promping a pursuit which lasted around ten minutes.

At points the offender drove at more than three times the speed limit, crashing into two cars.

The second crash halted the Citroen and the driver ran off.

Police caught the offender after chasing them on foot.

A spokesperson for Rugby Police said: "Shortly after the pursuit ended the owner of the Citroen discovered the car had been stolen.

"The driver of the car remains in custody to be questioned in relation to offences of dangerous driving, aggravated TWOC, driving whilst disqualified, possession of drugs, driving without insurance and other offences.

"No members of the public were harmed in this incident."
