Gang tried to lure man into a Rugby park - and then chased him and punched him when he refused

A man was chased and then punched in the face after three men tried to lure him into a Rugby park in the early hours of the morning.

Police said the incident happened between 12.30-1am on Saturday December 21.

The victim was walking at the top of Hillmorton Road, Rugby, when the three men approached him.

A police spokesperson said: "As he walked past the recreational ground of The Queens Diamond Jubilee Centre a group of three white males aged in their early twenties have told him to go the park.

Anyone with information that could assist with the investigation should contact PC 1701 Grantham quoting Crime Reference 23/54219/19.

"When the victim refused the group chased him across the road to the nearby houses on the other side. One of the males then threatened the victim and punched him to the face before making off towards town.

"We are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information that could assist with the investigation.

"Please contact PC 1701 Grantham quoting Crime Reference 23/54219/19."
