Police would like to speak to the man pictured in connection with a purse theft in a supermarket in Rugby.

An elderly woman was shopping in Aldi on Hillmorton Road at about 9.50am on Thursday October 1 when she left her trolley unattended which had her open handbag inside it.

A man walked by the trolley and then, on spotting the purse, he returned and stole it.

PC Tez Cottingham said: “We are keen to trace the man pictured as we believe he could help officers with their enquires.

“We would urge anyone who recognises him, or has any information about the incident, to call us on 101.

“I would also like to take this opportunity to stress how important it is to keep your belongings secure and with you at all times.

“Opportunist thieves will take advantage of any unattended items.”
