Increase in violence in Rugby town centre

There was an increase in violent crimes in the town centre last month while the number of thefts dropped.

Figures released by police yesterday (Monday, March 20) show there were 18 violence-related incidents in February, resulting in 13 arrests.

The same amount of thefts were recorded, with 11 people ‘dealt with’ by police.

A total of 50 crimes were recorded in the town centre last month including two arsons and a man was arrested in relation to both.

Other incidents include one burglary, three fraud offences and one report of criminal damage, a fall from January when there were three such crimes.
