Man arrested by Warwickshire Police on suspicion of car theft following crash in Monks Kirby

FOLLOWING a collision between two vehicles in Monks Kirby last night (Monday) police have arrested a 20 year old man on suspicion of the theft of a motor vehicle.

The car, a white Citroen CVR was in collision with a black Peugeot Sport at 8pm on Monday night on Millers Lane near to the Denbigh Arms public house. The female driver of the Peugeot suffered an arm injury as a result of the collision.

Four males who were in the white Citroen, which was travelling on false number plates, and which had been stolen from Bedworth the previous day, got out of the Citroen and ran off across fields.

A 20-year old male was arrested a short time later at the roadside near to the junction of Coventry Road and the Fosse Way.

He was taken to Nuneaton Police Station where he remains in custody at this time.

Police are trying to locate all occupants who left the white Citroen and would like to hear from anyone who saw a group of young males in the Monks Kirby area or on Millers Lane between 8pm and 10.30pm.

They would also like to hear from anyone who saw a silver coloured VW Golf which did not have a rear number plate in the area on Monday evening.

In addition police would also like to hear from anyone who witnessed the collision on Millers Lane at 8pm.
