A man has been arrested in Rugby after police found a 'significant' amount of suspected class A drugs on him.

At around 11.40am yesterday (Tuesday December 29), officers from Rugby Proactive CID were on patrol in the Benn area of town when they observed suspicious behaviour on the Great Central railway track (just off Clifton Road).

A police spokesperson said: "A man was searched and a significant quantity of suspected class A drugs, as well as cash and mobile phones, were seized.

"A 19-year-old man from Birmingham was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply class A drugs. He has been released on bail while enquiries are ongoing."
