A man has been given a suspended sentence after he admitted to growing cannabis in a flat in Leamington.

He had been growing the plants at a flat in Eden Court in Mason Avenue.

Police said that he was caught after workers from Warwick District Council discovered 22 plants after carrying out a fire check at the property in February.

The 46-year-old man from Walsall was given an eight month prison sentence suspended for a year.
