Man in court for modern slavery offences after police raid house and Rugby hand car wash

A 33-year-old man has appeared in court charged with modern slavery offences after police executed warrants at the man's Abbey Street house and a Rugby hand car wash.

Ermal Lushaj of Abbey Street appeared at court charged with three counts of arranging or facilitating the travel of another person with a view to exploitation, three counts of holding a person in slavery or servitude, and one count of assault.

He was arrested following warrants at a hand car wash in Rugby and his house in Abbey Street on Wednesday, November 28.

Lushaj was remanded in custody to appear at Warwick Crown Court on January 3, 2019.
