A police officer was allegedly head butted and spat at as he arrested a man in Rugby last night (Tuesday).

The incident happened after officers responded to a report of a disturbance at a property in Murray Road.

An 18-year-old man from Rugby was arrested on suspicion of breach of the peace and assaulting an emergency worker.

In a separate incident last night, a 63-year-old man of no fixed abode was arrested on suspicion of committing a racially aggravated public order offence to a member of staff in Rugby.

On Monday, plain clothed detectives from Rugby Proactive CID seized cocaine and arrested three men after spotting a suspected drug deal while on patrol in Regent Street.

They arrested a 21-year-old man from Rugby on suspicion of possession of class A drugs with intent to supply, a 21-year-old man from Coventry on suspicion of being involved in the supply of drugs and a 19-year-old man from Rugby on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of drugs.

All three have been released under investigation while enquires continue.
