THERE has been a spike in burglaries within the Overslade and Rokeby area of Rugby, according to police.
During the last week thieves have been targeting vulnerable premises in Overslade and Rokeby, resulting in a spike in burglaries. Offenders have been mainly gaining entry through side windows.
Wayne Boulton, beat manager for Rugby Town West, said: “I would urge residents and people passing through to be more vigilant when they are out and about and to protect their property as best as they can.”
PC Boulton has issued the following advice to help protect your home:
Lights on timers as evenings have drawn in
Window Alarms - particularly vulnerable windows at the side
Consider house alarms
Leave a radio or TV on, to create background noise
Do not leave things on display
Do not leave sheds or garages open, where tools may be used to gain entry to the house
Report anything suspicious immediately
Motorists are also being warned to be vigilant about their vehicles and make sure they are locked at all times.
PC Boulton has advised that presents should not be left on show, sat navs put away out of sight and vehicles should not be left unattended with the keys in the ignition whilst they are being de-iced.
