A man has told the Advertiser of a shocking road rage attack which saw a van driver deliberately ram his car on a roundabout near Rugby.

The driver, who this newspaper has kept anonymous, was leaving Rugby in his blue Peugeot coupe on Tuesday, August 4, when the driver of a white Volkswagen van began to behave erratically.

After driving recklessly, the van driver then rammed the Peugeot at the roundabout where the A426 meets the A5 and Gibbet Lane.

The driver of the Peugeot said: "He seemed to think I wasn’t going fast enough for him as I left Rugby, and as I was about to pass a slow-moving lorry, he shot past me on the inside doing around 80 mph, nearly hitting the lorry and my front wing.

"Although I didn’t retaliate in any way, at the M6 roundabout he did a violent emergency-stop – (although the lights were on green) - hoping I’d crash into the back of him.

"Fortunately, I was able to swerve round him, and he then followed me up to the Gibbets Cross roundabout.

"As I turned right down the A5 towards Crick, he forced his van between me and the left-hand kerb, stuck his arm out the window in a “V”-sign, and deliberately swerved into me - crumpling my nearside front wing and bumper.

"He then turned round and headed back towards Hinckley."

The collision has left the Peugeot with extensive damage to one of the front wings.

The van was a small, white Volkswagen - possibly a Combi model.

It had no signage, but was very clean and had distinctive silver alloy wheels.
