A sheep was killed and butchered in a field in Crick in the latest of a number of similar attacks.

The animal was in a field off Kilsby Road sometime between 3pm on Monday, December 28, and noon on Wednesday, December 30.

After the sheep was caught, it was killed and its meat was cut away. Its fleece was then left in the field.

The incident followed a similar attack in Denton on December 28 when two pregnant sheep were butchered in a field.

A number of similar incidents have also been reported in the Denton and Brafield-on-the-Green in Northamptonshire over the past 18 months, a police spokeswoman said.

Anyone who sees unusual activity around fields, including torch light or suspicious vehicles, can call Northamptonshire Police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

The spokeswoman said the same numbers should be used to report people selling “cheap meat in unusual circumstances.”
