Cyclist seriously injured in crash

A CYCLIST has suffered life-threatening injuries in a crash near Warwick.

The incident happened on the A4189 between Henley and Warwick at around 9.35am on Saturday.

An ambulance, a rapid response vehicle and the Midlands Air Ambulance were called to the scene.

“A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “Ambulance crews arrived to find a cyclist and a 4x4 vehicle that had been in a serious collision. The car and bicycle had suffered significant damage.

“The cyclist, a man believed to be in his late 30’s, suffered serious head, chest, pelvic and leg injuries.

“He received extensive emergency treatment at the scene and was immobilised with a neck collar and spinal board.

“The man was airlifted to University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire for further emergency treatment.

“The hospital had been alerted to the mans arrival and his serious injuries.

“Unfortunately, the man’s injuries were considered life threatening.”
