WITH my 40th birthday just around the corner I look in the mirror at my laughter lines and ask myself ‘what was that funny?’

I class myself as a non-smoker, even though I find myself puffing away when I’m having a glass of wine with the girls.

I consider myself a social drinker, knowing full well that one cheeky vino will lead to a bottle.

That, combined with a busy full-time job and life as a single mum, has left my face telling the sorry tale of my eventful life.

So, here started my search for eternal youth and I found myself researching anti-ageing treatments.

I always thought Botox would be out of my price range. I was pleasantly surprised.

It starts at around £100 - a small price to pay for six months of a perkier, fresher looking me.

I am a Botox convert.

Botox blocks the nerves that contract muscles so that wrinkles can’t form, and it softens existing wrinkles and prevents them from deepening.

As a result, Botox can keep you looking far younger than your years, which has its advantages.

Botox is most effective on wrinkles that haven’t quite set in. An impropvement will be made to dynamic wrinkles that appear while you’re moving your face, such as when you frown.

I visited the beautiful setting of for my treatment Renatus Clinic in Cawston.

The team soon put my mind at ease and talked me through what would happen.

I would be lying if I said the injections were entirely painless. I wouldn’t be lying if I said the results are amazing.

It takes a few weeks for the full effect to kick in but when they do you can really see the difference.

A friend I hadn’t seen for a couple of years asked me if I’d have a facelift!

The injections ‘freeze frame’ time and stop the ageing process.

So impressed am I by this treatment that I will definitely be back to the clinic for more.

Clinic owner Natalie Meek said: “In the society that we live in today, both men and women are having to work for longer in their careers, they want to feel good about themselves and maintain their confidence.

“More people are turning to non-surgical procedures such as Botox or dermal fillers to help them achieve that. Clients want to look natural but look fresher and younger by reducing the lines and wrinkles that appear as we age.”

She said there was a 15% rise in treatments in 2010, with numbers topping the one million mark.

“In America, Botox is the top non-surgical procedure, the second most popular being laser treatments including hair removal and treatments of facial and leg veins,” added Natalie.

“Britain is closely following the trend. Both men and women are far more aware of ageing and are willing to invest in anti-ageing products and treatments, the relevance of sun damage and the effect this has on our skin means that clients are following better skin care protocols and are more likely to use a high protection sun cream to help prevent sun damage.”

She said: “We offer a complete range of treatments and procedures at Renatus Clinic, consultations with clients enable us to provide them with the relevant information for each individual to make an informed decision on a treatment that is right for them personally.”

The clinic provides everything from radio frequency skin tightening and beauty treatments to Reflexology, massage and Botox, it will soon include laser hair removal for both men and women. Kim McCloskey has recently joined the team and provides an extensive range of complementary health treatments.

“Our treatments are delivered in beautiful surroundings and yet our prices are the same as anywhere else,” added Natalie.
