RUGBY Theatre are on the lookout for English and Polish actors to take part in an innovative bi-lingual production of Romeo and Juliet as part of the Royal Shakespeare Company’s (RSC) Open Stages project.

RSC Open Stages aims to embrace, develop and celebrate amateur theatre, re-forging the bond with the world of professional theatre. Earlier this year the RSC invited amateur theatres to put forward proposals for exciting and different productions of Shakespeare related shows. Rugby Theatre’s bi-lingual version of Romeo and Juliet will be performed in May 2012.

Director Robert Sloan from Rugby Theatre said: “I’m sure a Polish Romeo and an English Juliet are out there somewhere. We just need to find them.”

An event to find out more about the production will take place on Tuesday at the theatre at 7.30pm where visitors can explore behind the scenes. Open auditions will then take place on Tuesday, November 15 at 7.30pm at Rugby Theatre. As well as British actors, the theatre is also looking for Polish actors who are bi-lingual.
