Dogs and their owners are invited along to a show taking place at Crick

A pedigree and fun dog show takes place at a hotel near Crick later this month.

Dog rescue charities Northants Greyhound Rescue (RGT) and Northampton Homes for Hounds have issued an invitation to every dog in the region to attend their annual Greyhound Gala and Companion Dog Show, which takes place at the Holiday Inn, Crick (near junction 18, M1) on Sunday August 28.

The show has pedigree and fun classes for all breeds of companion dog as well as greyhounds and lurchers, and features hot food and a wide range of stands and stalls.

There are trophies up for grabs and rosettes for the top six in each event.

Registrations open at 10am and judging starts at 11am. Admission costs £2.

Kennel manager Mandy Hooker said: “This is our major show of the year and the funds raised play a vital role in our ability to continue our work.”

Northants Greyhound Rescue and Northampton Homes for Hounds relieve the suffering of dogs in distress by placing them in loving homes, to the benefit of the dogs and their new families.

Some have a sad history of neglect and cruelty. Some have passed from one place to another and are desperate for a secure future.

Mandy said: “They make great pets and deserve a second chance.

“This show is a chance to help them and to have a fun day out at the same time.”
