Dogs banned from three more sites

THREE more sites have been added to the list of those from which dogs are excluded in Warwick district.

At a meeting on Wednesday evening Warwick District Council’s executive committee agreed to place exclusion orders at the children’s play areas in Francis Road in Baginton, Austen Court in Cubbington and at Norton Lindsey village hall.

Other sites which were put forward but not considered to be suitably enclosed or demarcated to have orders placed on them were Acre Close playing field and Washbourne playing field in Whitnash, the play areas in Styles Close, Hampton Magna, Montgomery Avenue in Hampton-on-the-Hill, the playing field west of St Laurence in Rowington and the main recreation ground in Broadway, Cubbington.

Cllr Michael Coker (Con, Kenilworth Abbey) did put forward the toddlers’ play area in Bishop Tachbrook but took the advice of other members and decided this should go through the correct process whereby it will be included on the agenda for future overview and scrutiny and executive meetings.

Cllr Alan Boad (Lib Dem, Leamington Crown) said: “I understand why you’re considering Bishop’s Tachbrook, but by going against the process I just wonder whether you are setting a few hares running for the dogs to chase.”

A task and finish group will consider what constitutes demarcation and try to set a standard when dog control orders are reviewed in the autumn.
