Drugs charge for Rugby man after police find 100 cannabis plants in a car in Leicester Road

POLICE officers who stopped a car on Leciester Road in Rugby yesterday (Sunday) afternoon found it has 100 cannabis plants inside.

The silver Audi A4 was stopped on suspicion of having no vehicle insurance following an ANPR check.

Officers searched the car and found around 100 cannabis plants, dried cannabis, a quantity of money and equipment used for growing the plants.

The driver of the car, Tomaz Piestrzeniewicz, 29, from Gladstone Street, Rugby was arrested and a search of his address resulted in the discovery of further plant growing equipment together with a further quantity of dried cannabis and other equipment used in the production of cannabis.

He was later charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession with intent to supply.

He was remanded in custody and is due to appear before magistrates in Nuneaton today (Monday).
